GREEN HYDROGEN
The concept of green hydrogen is only valid for situations where the energy source used to hydrolyze water and separate hydrogen atoms from oxygen atoms is 100% renewable and non-fossil.
Hydrogen is the most abundant chemical element in nature but due to the characteristics of its atom it is not found in nature in its free state, but always linked to other atoms forming molecules of many different substances.
Hydrogen has the basic characteristic of being an oxidizing element, that is, flammable and therefore a high quality fuel. It is present in the vast majority of organic and also inorganic substances.
Hydrogen can be stored in the form of a gas under pressure at room temperature, in the form of a liquid at very low temperature or in the form combined with other chemical elements forming substances with little or a lot of hydrogen.
Examples of flammable gaseous substances available in nature: Methane, propane, butane, LPG, CNG etc.
Examples of liquid flammable substances available in nature: Ethanol, methanol, ammonia, gasoline, benzene, solvents, acetylene etc.
Hydrogen as a form of energy needs to be stored and transported to the places of use and the logistics for this can be simple or complicated, expensive or cheap depending on the volume, the distance and the way it will be used.
The use of hydrogen in gas form requires pressure-resistant tanks for transport and storage. The tanks are expensive and in gaseous form, hydrogen takes up a lot of space, increasing the cost of logistics.
The use in liquid form has the advantage of taking up little space but requires a cryogenic tank with a very low internal temperature, BETWEEN -253º AND - 259º. During a long and time-consuming transport, part of the material will be lost due to heating.
The solution for a cheap and efficient logistics is to use hydrogen combined with other chemical elements forming energetic substances that can be stored and transported easily and safely.
There are three very energetic substances that can be synthesized from hydrogen taken from water using energy in an electrolysis process, ethanol, methanol and ammonia, all flammable liquids that are easy to pack and transport.
Schimidt Gazzaffi is bringing to Brazil an innovative technology developed in Europe that allows the generation of hydrogen and the consequent production of methanol, ethanol or ammonia, using solar and wind energy, classifying the final product within the category of green energy.
This factory will initially have 90% nationalization in Brazilian territory and will have the capacity to produce large quantities of energy material for export.
The first methanol or green ammonia generation project is being planned to be implemented in the state of Rio Grande do Norte as a pioneering project in Brazil.
